Polarity Test Of Transformer

Transformer receives input A.C voltage and gives voltage at secondary terminals due to induction. So when primary terminals are connected to an A.C source the positive and negative polarity switches between the two terminals.
Polarity test to be done to identify which terminals of the primary and secondary are having same polarity i.e. positive or negative.

Transformer Vector Group Determination

Determination of transformer vector group is very essential before installing it for service.
Transformer vector group connections are made based on the winding polarity. But after the winding connection is made it is necessary to check if the desired vector group has been achieved.
So let us see how the tests are carried out.

We shall discuss about few vector groups, the rest you can derived in line with this atricle.

Transformer Phasor Diagram

TRANSFORMER IS THE MOST USED ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT IN INDUSTRY. LET US SEE A DIAGRAMMATIC REPRESENTATION OF ITS WORKING PRINCIPLE, CALLED "PHASOR DIAGRAM" ALSO KNOWN AS "VECTOR DIAGRAM"

Before starting the "Phasor  Diagram" we should know how electrical model of a transformer looks. It is called Equivalent circuit of a transformer.

Say the Primary winding has T1 turns & Secondary winding has T2 turns, then,
(E1/E2)=(T1/T2)
